The Big Surprise
I write blog only when I am impressed big time by some event in my life. Today is the day when I jump around, come out of my matureness' circle and shout like a child, "YahhhhHHooooOOoooooo!, I liked that !"
Surprises have very importance in our lives especially if you are aware of shock-treatment. Pleasant surprises are very necessary to improve your energy level and help you groom better in all aspects of your life. Pleasure is just a state of mind but this feeling is heavier on all physical efforts.
In the morning, when I was lost in my programming, I got a call,
Rinnggg.. ringgg.. rinnnn ..
First I saw the strange number for a few seconds and then I decided to attend the call. On the other side, I heard a gentleman,
"Can I get Mr. Haroon?" , I said, "yes I am Haroon" to which he replied, "I am PostOffice Manager. We have a parcel for you from USA. Can you pick it please?" ... After a few seconds of silence, I said "YES" .. what??? were you expecting me to say NO? ...
I forgot about this call and caught by the work again. Later when I was going to the post-office I was thinking on my way about the possible sender of this parcel. I used to write web-technologies articles, long ago, and used to get many different gifts, cards and letters etc from my online readers. Also I had a friend, Jennifer I love you, in Malaysia; she used to send me lovely cards on birthdays. There was another dude in California, David you SUCK lol, he used to send me different books. A girl with couple of beautiful Chinese-eyes lives in Hong-Kong. She used to send me chocolates. And so many other names were coming in my mind as the sender of this parcel randomly. Finally I reached the post office and manager delivered me the parcel. I was shocked to see GEORGE written in sender area. I literally thanked George in my heart, "thank you George, you are the man!" but at the same time I was saying, "Ehh! you have bad hand-writing" lol
Then I took the parcel and drove to my home very happily, yeah I sang a beautiful Bryan Adam song on my way. That doesn't mean I am in love with George. I was just happy...
When I reached home, I jumped into my room and opened the parcel. First, 3 caps came out of the box. Chicago knitted on them. One of them was packed in plastic two were without packing. I generously gave one cap right a way to my elder brother who was there with me then. Then I found a YO YO .. have you seen hot Japanese girls playing YO YO on POGU channel? The best thing about this YOYO is that I can SPIN GOOGLE with it, lol, it has Google written on it so you can play with google finally. I think this YOYO represents their circles of tensions generated from many lawsuits recently of copyrights infringement etc on YouTube. They must be missing 1.6 Billion.
After that I found a cool Shirt and you know what, it is a Google merchandise. I am thinking to wear it for exercise in GYM. I go to HIKON martial arts gym and I want all the Bruce Lees asking me, "so what is this google?"
Then I found a lead-packed headphone with skype free calling card for 30 minutes. I am not sure if this card still works are George sent me the expired one :) I will have to try and see...
Last but not the least, I found a Web Security Book. I really liked this book. I read about it a few months back, but was not able to buy it. It is very good practice guideline on avoiding XSS attacks on sites and stuff like SQL Injection etc. I know almost all of them already but it will be really good to see them with a different eye.
Anyway, on the serious note, as an employee it really gives a big pleasure when you get something out of the plan from your employer. It increases the devotion towards the employer and gives you a fluctuation of energy to get to the next level and serve even better. George and Sean, you are two of the very few good Americans, lol, living on this earth. I love you both ! mmmuuuaahhhhhh!
The crackpots who do not believe this story, here is few snaps of my "things" .. burn people burn...

Haroon Reloaded
Hi
Long time no post :) lazy blogger. Anyway, finally I have stopped taking freelance tasks that I used to take after my permanent job's working hours. Now I am utilizing my time at night mostly to refresh my skills in the technologies I had worked long ago and never got chance to get back to them and had forgotten them almost.
First on the list is ASP. I had made a MSN kind of messenger with the help of ASP many years ago when I was a student. At that time even MSN itself didn't have web messenger. But I was not good enough to realize that and cash my invention :) Later due to my tough computer science studies I left working in ASP and joined PHP when I came back to the web world. I covered ASP classic, not ASP.Net, in just three days again and now planning a good project in it to clean my hands.
XQuery and XPath are two other technologies I had worked long ago and then had forgotten them almost. I have started working on a very cool XML based web application. If I get time to continue this project trust me it could be THE NEXT BIG THING! and GOOGLE might want to buy it for a few billions too ... Dreamin....
Besides I have started working in Java too. NetBeans on my laptop is a nice addition to many other softwares. I really want to go beyond limits in Java and my ultimate goal would be to work in J2EE and SAP solutions. But long way to go now...
I also tested my designing skills again to make sure my programming has not overshadowed my hidden designer. Photoshop CS2 is on my list too.
Another small thing I learned but never got a chance to make quickly was Mozilla XUL. Nice technology but I think it is not a good idea to work in a BROWSE SPECIFIC technology since this doesn't work with other browsers and works with Mozilla / Firefox only
I am also launching a big software that I had written in PHP-Smarty long ago but it went dead because I was making good bucks from freelance work and was not interested in improving this project. It is a very good solution for Universities. It is online testing system based on MCQs type with lots of good features. I will soon launch it and will update you guys.
So lots of new things improving my skills and taking their place in my portfolio and skills-set.
What I have noticed in my professional life is that you can expert a technology if you are working in it and you continue getting work in it. This has been a problem with me, I learned many things but I didn't get PAID WORK in it and you know this is the interest of a professional after all I have to make both ends meat. So I forgot those technologies which hadn't brought money to me :)
I am trying to recover most of them now but I will miss one thing always..... C sisters... I regret why did I leave working in C, C++ and Visual C 6. I must have continued working in them because the .NET is all about C# nowadays.
Anyway, whatever happens, happens for a reason so I am happy and satisfied. I worked in web development and I made good bucks and a bright future is waiting for me. I am just 25 guys ... :D
